“Community Trees for Healthy Streams” is the topic of the annual Oregon Urban & Community Forestry Conference, being held Thursday, June 2, 2011 at World Forestry Center in Portland. The featured speaker is Dr. Susan Day, Urban Forestry Professor from Virginia Tech. Dr. Day will be joined by a number of speakers from communities around Oregon who will be sharing practical tips and techniques for managing tree and stormwater issues. “The Summer Arboriculture Short Course” organized by Oregon State University and the Oregon Department of Forestry, will be held on June 17-18, 2011 on the OSU campus in Corvallis. This event will use a mix of classroom instruction and field trips using the trees on OSU’s beautiful campus. “Working in the Urbanizing Landscape: Changing Roles for Natural Resource Professionals” is a two-day workshop being held May 23-24, 2011 in Beaverton. This event will prepare natural resource professionals to address the challenges of a rapidly changing wildland-urban interface.
